The SpydaStrong Foundation was established in memory of Emerson “Spyda the DJ” Gibson, a beloved Barbadian DJ, mentor, and friend whose kindness, generosity, and commitment to helping others touched countless lives throughout Barbados and the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
Although Spyda’s battle with lymphoma came to an end, his spirit of service continues to inspire everything we do.
Our mission is simple: to ensure that no one faces cancer alone.
Through financial assistance, caregiver support, transportation services, patient resources, wellness initiatives, and community outreach, we strive to ease the burdens that accompany a cancer diagnosis. Every program we develop is rooted in the belief that compassion, connection, and community can make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and their families.
This blog will serve as a place to share stories of hope, educational resources, Foundation updates, volunteer opportunities, community events, and the inspiring journeys of those whose lives have been touched by cancer. It is also a place where we will celebrate resilience, honor caregivers, recognize survivors, and remember those who continue to inspire us.
